The Bob Kramer Ceramic Sharpening Rod is an excellent maintenance tool to be used on a regular basis between sharpening. Its purpose is to align the blade edge and increase cutting efficiency. Ceramic is very gentle on a blade edge and will keep it razor sharp. Ceramic is also hard enough to be effective on both German and Japanese knives.
